The villa is located in the spectacular countryside of the Orcia valley, which has been renewed since the end of the first millennium as an important stage on the Via Francigena, the great medieval pilgrimage road from France to Rome. The property was a ruined peasants’ house when it was discovered by a local family, its current owners.
It attracted them not only because of its large size, but also because of the presence of water, which was almost a miracle for this valley.
The family has lived in the Orcia valley for over 50 years. Because they are enamored of this area, they decided to devote their lives to farming and to improving the countryside of the valley.

  • The owners renovated other farmhouses, so the same attention to detail and all the lessons learned from previous renovations have been used in this last restoration, finished in 2003: original stone and bricks, terracotta flooring, antiques and Tuscan wood furniture.

In restoring the structure as a comfortable vacation house of exceptional character, the owners’ main aim was to respect the original features of the building.
Rooms with wood-beamed ceilings are well sized and open to the most beautiful views of the valley, with wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees.

The family respected the traditional structure of the farmhouse and kept the house divided into two independent units: the ground level, once the stables, which can accommodate ten people, and the top level, where the peasants used to live, which sleeps four more people.
As a result, the villa is the perfect setting for family reunions or groups of friends looking for an “oasis” of tranquillity, surrounded by art and culture.

The property is about 600 m2 and is divided into two floors: on the first floor, you can find a nice living room, an equipped kitchen, a dining room and 4 double bedrooms with the ensuite bathrooms.
The second floor is made of nice living room with a beautiful window from which you can enjoy the stunning view and 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

  • The extensive lawn is mainly seeded with grass to maintain the open space of the valley and not to restrict the view around the farmhouse.
Terracotta pots with geraniums, wild roses and bushes of lavender and rosemary create a beautiful frame around the pool. The covered dining space with fireplace, pizza oven, barbeque, table and chairs will let guests enjoy unforgettable Tuscan sunsets.

The pool is outdoors and it is not heated. For this reason, it’s closed in wintertime and in case of bad weather conditions. Check the pool opening times with us, before confirming your reservation.
